Tithing and Giving

In over forty years of ministry, I have never preached or taught on tithing. Quite frankly, when I was a young Christian, I was put off by TV pastors and preachers who emphasized tithing, asking for "seed faith" monies, and by preachers who would even ask their audience to send in a $1,000 "seed faith" offering. The TV preacher, in turn, would send them a handkerchief that had been prayed over to be used to receive their healing. 

ect amount for biblical tithing. Although today we commonly think of the tithe as "10 percent," apparently, there are three tithes in the Old Testament, two every year and a third every third year, or an average of 23.3 percent of one's annual produce from the land.
