BINDING and LOOSING

I have heard pastors speak many times on the following two verses -

Matthew 16:19 – [19] I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”

And -

Matthew 18:18 - [18] Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.

Here is what I have found to be true. Whenever people teach on “binding and loosing,” things can drift into strange territory if the phrases are lifted out of their original context and then misappropriated and turned into doctrinal beliefs or practices the passage itself never intended.
