BINDING and LOOSING

I have heard pastors speak on these two verses many times.
Matthew 16:19 – [19] I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”
And -
Matthew 18:18 - [18] Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.
And pastors come up with some of the strangest theological doctrines or beliefs based on these two scriptures. This is particularly true of hyper-faith pastors, but it is not uncommon even for pastors in general. This, you see, is the danger of taking scripture out of context and using it to serve your own objectives.
